Hodder Memorial Complex Arena Vaccination Site Update

Deer Lake, NL (March 12, 2021) – In person appointments for those individuals in phase 2 of the COVID-19 immunization plan have begun to receive their first dose of the vaccine at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex arena today.

The Town of Deer Lake has worked in cooperation with officials from Western Health to make this opportunity for residents of Deer Lake and surrounding areas as safe and efficient as possible. We would like to recognize the staff from the recreation department and Western Health who have worked diligently to prepare the vaccination center.

The Town of Deer Lake appreciates the feedback they have received from residents who applaud the decision as well as those who have expressed concern for the youth of our community.  Again, this decision was not an easy one, the Hodder Memorial arena was the only facility available that met the criteria for a vaccination center in the community.  Deer Lake is an avid sporting community and we understand the frustration of both our youth and adult residents and the impact that the pandemic has had on their lives.

This area of the province will move to Alert Level 3 on March 13, 2021.  This allows the town to open the swimming pool and Humber River Lanes bowling alley for recreation swimming and bowling.  At Alert Level 3 group and team sports will continue to be suspended.

The Town of Deer Lake appreciates the cooperation and patience of its residents at this time.  Having a vaccination site here in Deer Lake will be a substantial step in the right direction as we continue to reduce the strain that this pandemic has caused for so many.

The Town of Deer Lake respectfully asks those who quality to pre-register for the vaccine. Please refer to the information provide below that is available on the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s COVID-19 website.
