Flora & Fauna

The Town of Deer Lake is located in the Western Newfoundland Forest Eco-region, considered one of the most favorable areas climatically for plant growth on the Island. As such, the town, which is part of an area characterized by thick tree cover and a mosaic of wetlands, is home to a diverse range of wildlife.

This Field Checklist of Selected Flora and Fauna includes plant and animal species noted along the Deer Lake trail system. This list was compiled based on sightings by residents and Town staff.
