TOWN OF DEER LAKE CLEAR– A– HYDRANT CONTEST 2022

TOWN OF DEER LAKE
CLEAR– A– HYDRANT CONTEST 2022

The CLEAR-A-HYDRANT program encourages residents of the Town of Deer Lake to help keep fire hydrants in the municipality clear of snow during the winter months.
Currently, the Town of Deer Lake maintains over 200 fire hydrants. After a major snowstorm it can take several days to clear hydrants. For the remainder of this winter season the Town of Deer Lake is encouraging everyone to adopt a hydrant and help keep them clear. During the winter fire hydrants can get buried under snow and are not immediately accessible during an emergency. In an emergency, firefighters must locate and shovel out uncleared hydrants before hooking up to the water supply, losing valuable time to control fires and save lives. But you can help!

When removing snow from a hydrant close to a street, please be aware of vehicle traffic. Also, please do not pile snow in the street.
