You can access their services online or by calling toll-free at 1-800-668-1010. In the Deer Lake area you can avail of the Department of Innovation, Business & Rural Development. This agency will assist you in developing your own business plan.

Business Registration
To register a new business with the Town of Deer Lake, you will first need to complete an Application for Permit, which governs construction, renovations, and extensions. You will also need to complete an Application to Operate a Business. When you are ready to start your business, the Town of Deer Lake Economic Development Officer can guide you through the process. Phone: (709) 635-2451 or email: deerlakeedo@nf.aibn.com. Before you rent or buy space, it is best to check whether your business fits the zone for that area of the Town. You will also need to complete an Application for Permit if renovations or a new building is needed. Depending on the scope of your business, you will also register with provincial or federal governments. You can check out the Business Start up Info Guide at canadabusiness.ca. For example, you apply for a Business Number with the Canadian Revenue Agency for filing corporate income tax, GST/HST, payroll, and import/export. All businesses with employees or are incorporated, need to register with Workplace, Health & Safety Compensation Commission.
