A message from the Town Council of Deer Lake

The Town Council of Deer Lake would like to sincerely thank our residents for their patience, understanding, and support regarding the recent boil water advisories over the past few weeks.
As many of you know, our new water filtration plant is an important investment in the future of our community. As with many major infrastructure projects, we have experienced a few unforeseen challenges during the commissioning process, primarily related to unexpected power outages.

Our staff, along with technical experts, are working diligently to resolve these issues as quickly as possible so the system can operate as intended. While there have been a few temporary setbacks, we are confident these adjustments will strengthen the long-term reliability of our water system.

The health and safety of our residents will always be our highest priority. Whenever a boil water advisory is issued, the Town immediately begins the required process to restore normal service. Although we work to complete our responsibilities as quickly as possible, the advisory cannot be lifted until all required water quality testing has been completed and the Province has reviewed the results and provided official approval. This provincial process is an important safeguard that helps ensure our drinking water meets all health and safety standards before residents are advised that it is safe to resume normal use. While the timing of provincial testing and authorization is outside the Town’s control, please know that we work closely with provincial officials every step of the way to have advisories lifted as soon as it is safe to do so.

We understand that boil water advisories can be frustrating and inconvenient, and we truly appreciate the patience and cooperation shown by our community. Your understanding allows us to put safety first while ensuring every required step is completed properly.

Boil water advisories and notices when they have been lifted will continue to be shared on the Town’s Facebook page. We also encourage all residents to download the Voyent Alert app to receive important notifications directly to their home phone, cell phone or email as soon as they are issued.

If you have any questions about a boil water advisory or any other Town service, please contact the Town Office directly at 709-635-2451 or by email at info@deerlake.ca. As our Facebook page is not monitored regularly for comments or questions, contacting the Town Office is the best way to receive timely and accurate information.

On behalf of Town Council, thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support as we work through these final adjustments to our new water treatment system. We remain committed to providing our community with a safe, reliable, and high-quality drinking water system for many years to come.
