Town of Deer Lake

Economic Development

The Town of Deer Lake has become a base for providing both residents and visitors to the western region of the province with many of the services needed in a modern society. The Town of Deer Lake is strategically located at the intersection of two major highways, the Trans Canada Highway (Route 1) and the Viking Trail (Route 430), at the eastern edge of the community.

The Deer Lake Regional Airport is located on the eastern edge of Deer Lake and accessible via the Trans Canada Highway. The Deer Lake airport is the 4th busiest airport in Atlantic Canada. Both passenger and aircraft statistics have continued to grow, which has led to the airport expanding its runway to 8005 feet in 2010. Visit deerlakeairport.com for further information.

To the north of the community is Gros Morne National Park, A UNESCO World Heritage Site that boasts over 180,000 visitors annually. The entrance to the park sits just a 25 minute drive from the Town.
