It is as easy as 1,2,3:
- Place organics in the green organics collection cart
- Place recyclables in transparent blue bags
- Place household garbage in clear bags
Starting October 15, 2018, the Town of Deer Lake will carry out a mandatory three-stream curbside collection service for its residents. All organic waste that is accepted in our community compost program must be put out in your organics collection cart. This includes food waste and leaf & yard waste. Organics are collected weekly on your scheduled collection day.
Residents must place their recyclables in a transparent blue bag. Recyclables consist of mixed paper and mixed containers as found in the waste sorting guide of WRWM. Remember to clean your containers before placing them in the bag to avoid contamination. Recyclables are collected every alternate week.
All that is not recyclable or compostable, goes in the garbage. Recyclables and organics are not allowed in the garbage. The garbage has to be put out in a clear bag and two small non-transparent bags may be placed inside each clear bag for your privacy. These garbage bags should be placed in your garbage cart.
Week 1: Organics & Garbage
Week 2: Organics & Recycling
The collection is usually once a week on a specific day and moves ahead a day if there is a holiday during the week. Please place your organics collection cart together with recyclables bags or garbage collection cart at the roadside on the scheduled day of pickup.
