History of the Deer Lake Strawberry Festival
The Deer Lake Strawberry Festival began in 1984 and is one of the oldest continuously-run festivals in Newfoundland and Labrador. It is a three-day event organized by a volunteer committee as a community party for residents and visitors on the 3rd weekend of July. The festival began as a way to highlight the production of strawberries in the Humber Valley and over the years has evolved into a community celebration with something for the whole family. The emphasis of the festival is to provide local entertainment with locally produced handicrafts and goods in a family atmosphere. There’s something for everyone!
