What's Nearby

From our own local attractions to the picturesque Humber Valley. From the Great Northern Peninsula to scenic White Bay… Deer Lake and surrounding areas provide the opportunity for everyone to have a memorable vacation. Whether you are the rugged outdoors type, thrill-seeker, or prefer a quieter pace, Deer Lake is awaiting your arrival and you will definitely “feel the energy building.”

As a gateway community, visitors must pass through Deer Lake, regardless of their mode of transportation. Walkers, bikers, boaters and drivers of all kinds of mechanized vehicles use Deer Lake as a staging point to explore Western Newfoundland. Within one hours’ drive you will find the entrance to Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Further north beyond Gros Morne are Port au Choix and L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic sites. In Labrador, the visitor can enjoy Red Bay National Historic Site.

To the south, Corner Brook and Marble Mountain Ski Resort are each less than a half hours’ drive from Deer Lake, while Stephenville is an hours’ drive and Port aux Basques is 2.5 hours’ drive away. Several hours’ drive to the east, the Central Newfoundland communities of Grand Falls-Windsor and Gander can be found and, some seven hours drive away, one encounters the City of St. John’s.
